Music Production, 10 Tips On The Very Basics For All Aspiring Artists And Producers

  1. “It Is Better To Move Slow & High Quality Than To Move Fast And Mediocre.”

On this note, I want to stress how important it is that everything you call “your art” is acceptable by anyone who fits your demographic that is your target audience. If you don’t take it seriously they won’t either. Make sure its High Quality. Make sure it’s presentable before it’s acceptable.

  • “Make Sure You Know What You Want, And Go Get It.”

If you want it, go get it. Simple!

  • “Get Started, it is Never Too Late.”

This one is self-explanatory, a lot of stuff looks good on paper, but you got to actually get your feet wet before you can see what you’re working with, and where you’re at.

  • “Be Consistent.”

Don’t get started, just to quit or take a break a couple days later. Stay on it, or your audience will go elsewhere for the content they want. And it’s not hard, but not that easy to get them back once that happens.

  • “If Something Doesn’t Work The First 2 weeks, it’s not going to work that 3rd week”

This one will save you a lot of time, just know when a project or song or artwork needs to be reset, or started over.

  • “Don’t Do It For The Money.”

You will be spending money, it is possible to make money, but you will be spending money for your first couple albums, mixtapes, etc.

  • “Be You, Original, and Real.”

People can tell if you are fake. It is not appreciated. It is not going to get you where you want. And even if it does, you should never want to be fake to get somewhere. So keep it real, you’ll have a better shot.  People appreciate authenticity and who knows, maybe you’ll gain a couple more fans being authentic than if you were trying to be like someone else.

  • “You Can’t Rush Art.”

This one speaks for itself, but if you didn’t get it the first time, I got you.

It is better to take your time than to rush it. Refer to tip number “1”.

  • “By Failing to Prepare, You’re Preparing To Fail.”

Make sure you know what all equipment you need, as well as training and tips, and organization.

  1. “Be Organized.”

If you are organized, you will kill this game.
