Chess Player Profile: Gary Kasparov

Garry Kasparov was born on April 13, 1963  in Baku Azerbaijan. Garry Kasparov is one of the greatest chess players of all time. Chess is very intelligent and interesting game. In order to really understand it, you need to understand all aspects of it.  Garry Kasparov understood the strategy it takes in order to play the game of chess well. He was able to make calculated moves in order to win with an advantage and also used his influence to gather a following in his unrelated movements. (Wikipedia).

Garry Kasparov is a dynamic player his key strengths were his exceptional intuition and ability to calculate in complex positions. Kasparov was well known for his deep opening preparation and aggressive play right from start.

Garry Kasparov was a Grand Masters who won two world championships, his first in the soviet junior match and his big win in Moscow, on November 9, 1985,at the age of 22, Garry Kasparov became the champion (1985, Kasparov). He was able to keep his title as undefeated for 13 years. At age twenty-two he was youngest world winning champion for chess. He lost his title in 2002 and then retied. He went onto playing smaller chess matches and also being involved in political movements such as; ”Russian pro-democracy movement” and in 2012, Kasparov was named chairman of the New York-based human rights foundation.

In 1983 a super computer was built and programmed for advanced chess matches. Garry played six matches against the super computer called deep blue. He lost against deep blue in the last game but tied all first five. After he had lost he said he was not playing his best chess and wasn’t prepared. Also said that the computer may have had human chess player change some rules. Kasparov said “objective strengths” made his moves seem weaker. (Wikipedia).

Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a checkboard with 64 squares arranged in an 8by8 grid.in my opinion Garry Kasparov is the greatest chess player of all time but that’s not for me to decide.
